"There's no such thing as normal, just different shades of mental."
"You're only as crazy as you let people say you are."
Today I watched an Australian film, called Mental. The characters in the film suffer from undiagnosed mental disorders and general craziness...
And sharks?
The film is full of great advice, such as believing in your own power and self-worth.
Although the main theme of the movie would be about women finding their voices.
We glimpse the traits of all the male characters through the female roles.
The father of the family, the man who owns the theme park, even the eldest daughter's love interest are shallow characters.
The emphasis is placed on the complexities of each female character, using the male characters to bring light to their shortcomings.
Later by dismissing the importance of males in the film, the women are able to transform those shortcomings.
This all sounds so serious, but it's a comedy!
I laughed at the witty humour and quirky character traits through the duration of the film.
And the actress from United States of Tara played a leading role, she is brilliant.
So those are my thoughts...
